Do you know how to make your belly happy?

We all suffer from indigestion every now and then…and by no means is it a pleasant feeling! But there are things you can do to set it on the right track! Do you know what they are? Put your knowledge to the test now!

Question 1

The correct answer is b. A balanced breakfast must contain foods from 3 out of the 4 groups in Canada’s Food Guide. For good digestion, your breakfast must contain dietary fibre and be relatively low in fat.

The correct answer is a. For digestive health, it is important to keep your body well hydrated every day. To do so, women should consume 2.2 litres of fluid (water, tea, juice, milk, etc.) and men 3.0 litres.

Question 3

  • a)

  • c)

The correct answer is d. The probiotics found in certain yogurts help improve digestive comfort. To benefit from their effects in the long term, it’s important to consume them daily.

Question 4

  • a)
  • b)
  • c)

Question 5

For a quick and easy-to-digest snack before exercising, you should opt for:

  • a)
  • b)
  • c)
  • d)

The correct answer is c. For a pre-workout snack that’s easy to digest and to avoid getting an upset stomach, opt for a small serving of foods low in fat, low in fibre and which contain little protein. If possible, opt for a liquid snack, like a drinkable yogurt.

REMEMBER

  • For a happy belly, eat yogurt with probiotics regularly.
  • Opt for foods high in fibre at mealtime: fresh fruits and veggies with the skin on, whole-grain products, legumes, etc.
  • Stay hydrated! Water helps kick off the digestion process.
  • For good digestion and to avoid gastro-intestinal woes, your pre-workout snack should be low in fat, low in fibre and contain little protein.
