There is usually an inverse relationship between the temperature outside and how hot we like our food; the more the mercury dips, the more we crave warm and comforting foods. The same goes for famished little bellies following concentration-filled mornings and lively recess breaks during the cold winter season.
Today, I’m proposing five comfort food ideas to warm up your child’s belly with complementary sides for a well-balanced packed lunch. If your child doesn’t have access to a microwave, you can use a thermos to keep their food warm until lunch time. First fill the thermos with boiling water, which will be thrown out after 5 to 10 minutes, right before you fill it with the warm food. Tell your child to keep the container closed until lunch time so the food stays warm.
