When Emily learned that she was selected for the 14th edition of the Danone Nations Cup’s (DNC) Eastern team last April, she was overjoyed. Emily admits having practiced twice as hard in the days leading up to the various training camps in order to stand out during tryouts, and it definitely paid off!
Emily has always been very athletic; she has played soccer for the last five years and would like to have a career in the sport. Her participation in the DNC will offer her the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the biggest 11 and 12-year-old youth soccer tournament in the world.
Since the DNC’s inception in Canada in 2001, the country remains the only one with a co-ed team. This year, the team, which includes two girls, Emily and Jessica de Filippo from Saint-Lazare, Quebec, will be competing in London against 31 teams from around the world during the international final.
We wish Emily, Jessica and the entire team the best of luck in London!
